In this case, the student receives a type D visa before arrival and, after entering Spain, obtains the Foreigner’s Card (TIE) if the program exceeds six months.
  • Submitting directly in Spain is intended for students already legally residing in the country who wish to regularize their stay for study purposes. The process begins at the local immigration office, and after approval, the student receives a residence permit and TIE.

Both options have their procedural specifics and are charged separately, allowing the applicant to choose the most suitable path depending on their situation.

Documents Required for a Student Visa in Spain

To apply for a student visa in Spain, you need to prepare the following documents:
  1. Criminal Record Certificate – issued in your country of citizenship, must be apostilled and translated into Spanish.
  1. Medical Certificate – confirms that you do not have any health conditions preventing your studies; must also be translated into Spanish.
  1. Letter of Enrollment from the Educational Institution – confirmation that you have been accepted, specifying courses or research programs.
  1. Proof of Tuition Payment – receipt or invoice confirming payment of your course.
  1. Proof of Financial Means – evidence that you have sufficient funds to cover your living and study expenses for the entire period of your visa (bank statements, scholarships, etc.).
  1. Health Insurance – valid in Spain for the entire period of your studies.
